Once upon a time in Rome…

I’d better say Tuesday in Rome.
Redbull Music Academy World Tour landed to the Eternal City this weekend, and what follows is something really special.

A 52-person orchestra will perform a refined selection of movie soundtracks, from the Italian cult productions of 60′s and 70′s.

“Looking back in search of something new” this is the main theme of the entire project, an idea of David Nerattini and Silvia Volpato in order to put together something more than just a “greatest hits”, a unique crate-digging for a unique show.
The Music Director, Massimo Nunzi, transcribed and adapted the compositions from the original recordings, and he will conduct an unconventional orchestra that includes, among the others, artists like Dino Piana, Fabrizio Bosso, Juan Carlos Zamora and Silvano Chimenti.

The opposition of new and classic will be reflected in the visuals too, where the calligrapher maestro Luca Barcellona will team up with the digital art of Sean Martin.
What can I say… I can’t wait for Tuesday cause I am really curious about how this show is going to be.

Special thanks to Damir from Soundwall, he “tried” to let me in at the workshop hosted by David Nerattini on Friday, I was so excited about it… that I get late.

Dedy Dread is a producer, a Dj, an architect and a surfer from Lisboa (Portugal), that loves to bring sounds from the lost crates, give them a new dressing and combine with the most unpredictable stuff. As a Dj, and vinyl junkie, he finds no frontiers! As long as the tunes shine and have that impact, and groove, he can play in the same mix all kind of styles from Hip Hop, Reggae, Funk, Latin, Soul, always with an eye on those 60’s and early 70’s sound!

This mixtape contains the fresh breeze that blows on the coasts of Portugal, so when the weather gets hotter, just press play and get REFRESHED!

You can check out his releases, all on 45’s, white label, Wack Records along with Smoove and DJ Rebel, and on his own label Lisboa with colaborations from Jstar and Mr. Bird.

His second release Summer Stories was out last month on Timewarp Music, an interesting nu-funk/breaks label from Athens.
